How CO₂ offsetting works at SUPASO
For us, climate neutrality is not an empty promise, but an integral part of our corporate DNA.
How exactly does CO₂ offsetting work at SUPASO? Why do we rely on transparent calculations and genuine climate protection projects instead of greenwashing? And what does this mean for our customers?
In our new blog article, we show how we take responsibility. From regional production to certified compensation with myclimate.
Climate protection with substance - not just a label, but responsibility in action.
Since 2022, SUPASO's packaging solutions have been officially certified as climate neutral. But what exactly does that mean? In this article, we provide an insight into how our CO₂ offsetting works, why it is so important, and why we have consciously opted for a holistic, transparent approach.
1. Why CO₂ offsetting at all?
Every form of production, even the most sustainable, causes emissions. From the recycling process of our waste paper to the transport of the finished packaging, CO₂ emissions are generated. These cannot currently be completely avoided. But instead of passing on the responsibility, we accept it – and offset these emissions through targeted climate protection projects.
The goal: our customers should receive packaging solutions that are not only functional and sustainable, but also climate neutral.Klimaschutz mit Substanz - nicht nur ein Label, sondern gelebte Verantwortung.
2. How does CO₂ offsetting work in practice?
Together with myclimate Austria, one of Europe's most renowned climate protection organizations, we calculate the product carbon footprint (PCF) of our insulation elements. This takes into account all direct and indirect emissions throughout the life cycle of our packaging: from raw material extraction to production and logistics to disposal.
The CO₂ amount determined in this way is offset by certified projects that reduce greenhouse gases in the long term or remove them from the atmosphere. These include international projects in the areas of forest protection, renewable energy, and education.
3. Why climate neutrality at SUPASO is more than just compensation
For us, CO₂ compensation does not simply mean “buying away” emissions. We see it as part of a comprehensive climate strategy that focuses on reduction before compensation. Specifically, this means:
Regional production in Hartberg, Austria, to minimize transport emissions.
Recycled raw materials (99% waste paper) instead of primary materials.
Energy-efficient processes, partly powered by our own photovoltaic electricity.
Modular packaging solutions that save packaging material.
Only what remains is offset. This makes our packaging not only climate-neutral, but also more honest.
4. What does this mean for our customers?
Those who choose SUPASO are consciously choosing climate-conscious logistics. Our climate-neutral packaging helps companies to
reduce their own carbon footprint
comply with legal environmental requirements
strengthen customer confidence through proven sustainable solutions
And: On request, we provide a corresponding climate neutrality certificate for communication with partners and end customers.
5. Conclusion: Responsibility that makes a difference
Climate neutrality is not a PR stunt, but a building block for a future worth living. At SUPASO, we combine thoughtful product development with responsibility. For a packaging world that conserves resources, saves CO₂, and makes no compromises in quality and performance.
